Dual ollamh do thriall le toisg

(anoniem gedicht voor de 7de earl van Argyll, ca. 1595)

Do bhí a chíos ar Chruachaidh Aoi
‘s ar Bhóinn ‘s ar Gháille géasnaoi
Is ar lacht Bhuilleadh sing suthain:
Cing Ardúir ór fhás

A Mhic Cailín na gcolg nocht
Mar sin dlighear i d’fhurtacht;
Cíos ar Teamhraigh na t Trí bhFear
Do bhí ar sealbh far sinnsear.

Engels
Cruach Aoi (seat of power in Connacht) , the Boyne (Tara)
The swan-fresh Galey (Co Sligo),
The flow of the slender everlasting Boyle
Were under tribute to King Arthur, from whom you sprang…

O Mac Cailein of the bare blades,
Thus she (Ireland) is due you assistance;
You ancestors held possession of tribute
Over Tara of the Three Man.
